A Message To RedOctane

You're freakin' me out!

I'm so afraid of what's going to happen in the next few weeks because I downloaded that patch for Guitar Hero II on the Xbox 360. I do NOT have the money to get my 360 fixed (can you believe I have to spend it on a dumb wedding???!!??!gay?!?!) and I am out of warranty on it. I really hope that if the patch is found to be the culprit then RedOctane takes responsibility for it. I believe spankings are in order.

So far, things are fine. I played for an hour yesterday and for a couple of hours on Saturday after the patch. Nothing bad has gone wrong but I've just jinxed myself by announcing it (and I've also pegged myself as someone without a social life).

------------------------------

Speaking of, Guitar Hero II for the 360 feels new and I can't tell why (my bank account has a clue though). I played the PS2 version over and over again and this one still feels like a new edition. It's probably because of the potential of the 360 version. There's a lot of stuff in this new one that wasn't part of the PS2 version and I think it's birthing me again.

I've never cared about the leaderboards except to brag (when I'm ahead) to my friends (another reason to believe I have nothing to show for my life). I do look at my career score a lot though on Guitar Hero II. I like to fancy (I'm a very fancy fellow) myself a good player and it's fun to see me in the ten-thousands (even though I know I suck compared to the top dogs). I don't usually place high in worldly scoring lists because I just don't have the time, or the patience, to get great at something. GH is something I've been interested in doing that with.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the downloading song packs idea. Of course, I hate the expensive price but when it comes to playing games that my non-video game friends will play, I'm willing to splash out to have all the latest stuff. I can afford the current price and, with all of the online craziness going on, it's definitely not going to get any more expensive. I just hope that the labels I love most try to get in on the action. Imagine playing something from The Shins or Of Montreal or some other band that gives me cred. I hope they'll be able to contribute to something like this.

And of course, there's the new songs. I really like some of them. Rock N' Roll Hoochie Coo is fun and so is the Deep Purple song. Also, the Rick Derringer song and Hush. And that's another great thing about GH. It's reminded me that I need to get into certain bands. I always forget that I want to go through the Heart and Pretenders catalog and every time I play, I'm reminded to look up good, classic music. It also reminds me of how much I hate the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

------------------------------

I'm really excited for GHIII and Rock Band. I'm kind of confused as to what's happening but it looks like RedOctane and Activision are making GHIII and Harmonix, MTV and EA are making Rock Band. I'm interested to see how GHIII will change without Harmonix - Neversoft would be a fool to change it in anyway. I do, however, have complete faith in Harmonix to do anything music-related so I'm sure Rock Band will have no faults.

Whatever happens, I will forever be in debt because of these bastard peripheral games and I LOVE IT.
