We are almost official!
We are finally get a site design.
We are breaking the Movable Type shackles and we are getting a real design. We will no longer be the "blog" that everyone thinks we are.
I understand why - I mean, you can't look at the Movable Type template and Category listing on the side without thinking we are a normal blog. I just hate that we get criticized based on that assumption. I've seen comments that criticize the content of our site based solely on the design and that's annoying.
Hopefully, with this new design we'll be taken a bit more serious (that's ironic, huh?).
I'd like to think that we can move beyond the normal blog-o-sphere and sort of become "The Onion" of the industry. I'd also like to think that we actually write things on par with the satire in The Onion. I'd also like to think that "liking to think" something actually means that it is true.
Of course we aren't as clever, witty, smart or as funny as The Onion - and who is, that is doing this type of comedy? But, I really am proud of how far we've come and I think we've got some really great writers (WHEN THEY ACTUALLY WRITE).
I've seen all of the past (and present) sites that we've been compared to and I really think we've upped them in the "funny" department. It seems as if people think that all you have to do to be funny is say that you hate something in a "sarcastic" way. Sarcasm isn't funny unless there's actually a joke there or some satire.
But, that's just me talking. I hope you guys really do like this site and DO think it's funny. I hope that we have actually made some smart observations about the video game industry and I hope that we continue to do so for a long time.
