Leaked Copy Of Halo 3 Accidentally Sold At Bungie Yard Sale
A recently leaked copy of Halo 3 auctioned on eBay was accidentally sold at Bungie's annual yard sale.
"I couldn't believe it when I saw it," said Carl Mansburg, the lucky buyer of the game. "It was just sitting there in the dollar bin. I think someone put it there thinking it was just box art or something. I quickly snatched it up along with some Halo 2 beer koozies and tried to buy it as quickly as possible."
He almost didn't get away with it.
"The guy at the register looked at the box for a second and then someone asked him a question and he lost focus on what he was doing," said Mansburg. "I quickly handed him the money and high-tailed it out of there."
The 'guy at the register' was Thomas Rectoro, an intern who started working at Bungie 3 years ago after graduating from college but still hasn't been picked up as an employee.
"I can't believe I did it," said Rectoro. "I was trying so hard that day. I flubbed on that French copy of Halo 2 last time and I was really focusing this year."
Bungie holds their yard sale every year to clear out the excess promotional materials and, according to Mill Runsky, Bungie President of Yard Sales and Communications, stuff like this is bound to happen.
"There's nothing we can do about it. We can only hope that people will be honorable and bring these items back when they realize the mistakes they've made by messing with us. We have their information and we will use it."
According to Runsky, the buyers of these items have a month to return the items or their Xbox Live Accounts with be banned among other things.
"Remember when we banned people for cheating? Remember that? That was just the tip of the iceberg. We're working right now on a way to ban human fertility."
