id Software Debuts New Engine At Apple Conference

id Software, the developers of Doom, debuted their new FPS engine at the WWDC keynote address.

"We've worked really hard on this super secret technology," said John Carmack, Technical Director at id Software. "We've fine tuned the way the player sees the character's hands holding a gun."

Carmack said that they've spent the last couple of years perfecting the look and feel of seeing your hands hold a weapon.

"We upped the amount of detail on each hand. You can actually see each pore stretch and expand with each trigger pull."

The weapons have been completely overhauled as well.

"Have you ever seen how a plutonium laser gun moves to the left five-tenths of an inch after it shoots? Well, now you will."

Carmack is very excited about the new engine and plans to implement it in all of it's upcoming games for PC, Mac and the major consoles.

"We guarantee that our new games will be the firstest-person shooting you've ever shot."
