Iwata Promises More Wii Games, World Peace By Year’s End
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata promises to have more compelling Wii software in stores and to bring about complete world peace by the end of 2007.
“I know a lot of Wii owners are complaining from a perceived lack of good games on the console, but let me assure you that we will be releasing up to 15 original first party titles by the end of the year," said Iwata. "I also promise to eliminate all conflict from the face of the earth by January 1st, 2008."
Iwata elaborated upon the current status of each goal.
“Super Mario Galaxy is starting to really come together and it’s looking near retail. I've also drawn up a plan for Israeli and Palestinian cohabitation of the Gaza Strip that is getting positive feedback. We should be peacefully playing games in no time.”
The announcement has been seen as a defensive measure primarily against Microsoft, which has pledged double-digit first party releases by the end of the calendar year as well as an exit strategy for the U.S. in Iraq.
