David Jaffe Suspended For Two Weeks
Sony has suspended video game designer and director David Jaffe for two weeks following comments he made about the PS3's Blu-Ray drive.
In an interview with GameTrailers, Jaffe said that he would've left out the Blu-Ray drive and sold it for "less money." This is a very controversial statement considering that Sony is touting Blu-Ray as one of the PS3's big selling points.
"We are appalled at the statements made by Mr. Jaffe," said a Sony PR rep. "His statements do not reflect the opinions of Sony."
Jaffe has apologized for his remarks but many in the industry don't feel as if that's enough.
"He needs to be fired," said Mitch Yardley, Customer Service Rep for Sony. "What he said is highly offensive to Blu-Ray drive owners and my heart goes out to them."
Even Al Sharpton has risen to the defense of Blu-Rayers.
"This man needs to be tarred and feathered. You don't say something like that in the technology age that we're in. We fought against that type of drive-ism in the 80s."
Sony has arranged a meeting with Jaffe and a few select Sony shareholders in order to reconcile the situation. He is expected to give a full apology and announce the inclusion of Ray Blue, the Blu-Ray mascot, into his newest game Calling All Cars, as well as any future game he creates for Sony.
