Penn & Teller To Release Sequel To Smoke And Mirrors
The comedy-magic duo Penn & Teller has announced that they are currently in production for a sequel to their Sega CD title, Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors.
The game has been titled Penn & Teller’s Cash In and is currently being developed by Sony Computer Entertainment America for the PlayStation 3 with David Jaffe as design lead.
“Smoke and Mirrors was a game that taught me what it was to be a hardcore gamer. Sure, anybody can beat Ninja Gaiden without dying once, but do you have the monk-like stamina to go through eight hours of Desert Bus,” said Jaffe. “I’ve completed the trip from Tucson to Vegas 73 times. Beat that suckas!”
Jaffe said he’s going to be using the God of War engine to run Cash In.
“You really are going to see the blood flow if you screw up the bullet catch trick.”
Like its predecessor, the sequel will feature a variety of in-game tricks to play on unsuspecting gamers. A trick that was revealed in the press release somehow convinces the mark that the PS3 Killzone demo was composed entirely of in-game footage. Such a feat, if actually pulled off, will be among the finest sleight of hand tricks ever performed in modern magic.
Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors was originally developed for the Sega CD by Absolute Entertainment but was never released due to the company going bankrupt. EA now owns the rights to the game and due to their recent exclusivity deal with the magic community Smoke and Mirrors may still see the light of day.
