Gamer Last Known To Be Totally Stoked About New Sonic Game
Preston Davis is the last known gamer to maintain any interest in the upcoming Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii.
Despite the extreme slide in quality of home console Sonic titles in recent years, Davis remains highly optimistic about the new Sonic game.
“I am totally stoked about Sonic and the Secret Rings. It’s the reason why I got the Wii,” said the McHenry County College student. “After the ending of (2006 game) Sonic the Hedgehog, I just can’t wait to see what new adventures Sonic has in store.”
Davis has consistently defended the direction the series has gone in, saying that the new artistic style and cast of wacky characters more than make up for the lost sense of speed that Sonic games are famous for. Friends, who cite that 3D Sonic titles have been consistently met with derision from the gaming press, have disparaged his opinion.
“Sonic has been absolutely horrible for years now. The Dreamcast Sonic Adventure games were ok, but what Sega is doing to the series should be a crime,” said GameSpot writer Jeff Gerstmann. “GameSpot is currently looking to file an injunction against the release of Sonic and Secret Rings. If that doesn’t work, I’ve been assigned to review the game.” [ed. note: Gerstmann has been placed on suicide watch until the injunction passes or the review is published.]
The criticism of 3D Sonic titles reached a peak in 2006, when the game Sonic the Hedgehog was used as the definition for ‘abortion’ in Webster’s Dictionary.
