[INTERVIEW] Jimmy Pardo
[Jimmy Pardo is a comedian out of Los Angeles.* He makes a living telling jokes without ever actually telling any jokes. If you hear about him coming to your town, SEE HIM. And maybe even sit in the front row. And wear a big hat. He won't mention it. He's got a very, very funny podcast that iTunes seems to like. You can check it out at his website. It's the funniest podcast available.]
The Game Rag: Give us a little bit of your video game playing history.
Jimmy Pardo: I enjoyed Atari as a child. I competed in a "Space Invaders" competition at a department store and was destroyed by better players in no time flat. I then was addicted to "Tetris" in the early 90s.
TGR: What do you think Guitar Hero has that makes people that don't play games buy a whole video game console just to play it?
JP: Nostalgia. And it plays into everybody's fantasy of wanting to be a rock star.
TGR: What's your favorite song to play?
JP: Right now, it's "Crazy On You" by Heart. I'm also enjoying "Jessica" by The Allman Brothers. Oh, by the way... I'm playing on the easy level.
TGR: Did a 12 year old write these questions?
JP: And a guy with no attention span answered them.
TGR: Will you wait in line at midnight for Guitar Hero III (rumored to be an all 80s edition)?
JP: Sweet Jesus, yes!!! Or at least get there at 9am and be turned away and whine like a 12 year old who writes crap questions.
TGR: What songs would you like to see in a future edition of Guitar Hero? Maybe some Rainbow Bridge?
JP: "25 Or 6 To 4" by Chicago would be fun if only for the solo. "Run To The Hills" by Iron Maiden would rock. "Slow Ride" by Foghat would be interesting to me and 1
other guy in the world, maybe somebody from Foghat. "Wipeout" by The Ventures (see that's funny because it's 99% drums). If they added Chicago & Hendrix, they would pretty much be including the entire Rainbow Bridge catalogue.
TGR: Do you think that I'm a cool interviewer (i.e., one of the guys) since I've referenced something from your podcast?
JP: Yes?
TGR: Anything coming up that you want to tell the listeners** about?
JP: Nope, just listen to the "Never Not Funny" Podcast @ pardcast.com
