Madden '07 To Embrace Episodic Content
Following in the footsteps of Valve's hit, Half-Life 2, EA is set to release episodic content for its most valuable franchise, Madden '07.
The initial offering of the game will include two quarters of a single game, enough to last players until half-time. From then on, a new episode will be released every two weeks, until Madden '08 is released. With each subsequent episode, another quarter of play will be available. In addition, each episode contains a new phrase recorded by John Madden, which will no doubt repeat itself after every play that has no relevance at all to what he is saying.
When asked why episodic content will be implemented in the game, executives point out that, "by releasing episodic content, we increase the longevity of the game. Valve releases new stages and furthers the plot with Half-Life 2 episodes. In the same vein, we'll be releasing more playing time and increasing the inventory of random Maddenisms that fans know and love."
Most fans of the series are quite enamored with the idea, including John Pearson of Chicago.
"I already pay $60 every year for Madden. Any opportunity to buy even more Madden during the year is a good thing in my eyes. Plus, it will make the wait for Madden '08 that much more bearable... GO BEARS!!!"
