Nintendo Game Designer Tired Of 'Same Old Innovation'
Mark Milligan, game designer for Nintendo of America, is tired of working on the same types of games every year.
"It's just really tiresome. We've been developing the same stuff every year; trying to come up with new ideas, working on innovative controller uses and making new types of gameplay for old franchises. It's getting old, fast."
Milligan started developing games for Nintendo right when the Nintendo DS was announced. He spent his time working on innovative uses for the stylus and now focuses on ideas for Wii.
"Why can't we just make first-person shooters or GTA-styled games? The formula is there. Let's just run with it!"
Milligan plans to keep working just to "beef up" his resume and then in a couple of years retire to making games for either the PS3 or the Xbox 360.
"Maybe I can get on at EA or something. I don't know - just somewhere where I can relax and take it easy."
