The Game Rag Sold To Foreign Investors, Racist Jokes Down 4%

03.21.06 - Video game satire website The Game Rag was sold today to an unnamed Middle Eastern purchaser earlier today, reports say.

After a lengthy negotiation process, the formerly American owned and operated website was purchased by a privately owned Arab conglomerate. Rahim al-Fayed, a spokesman for the new owners, notified the press at a brief conference held at a Motel 6 in Calexico, California - where the negotiations were being held.

"The Game Rag is now owned by our conglomerate and there's nothing you can do about it... unless of course you made a law saying that we couldn't buy it. That's the one thing you could do about it."

Nathan Smart, writer for The Game Rag and its former owner, was pleased with the deal: "I'm really excited. I mean, they gave me more barrels of crude oil than I know what to do with, plus, I get to see my brother again, he was being kept in an Afghani prison camp for the last six months. That was cool of them."

The sale of The Game Rag to a foreign conglomerate has changed the tone of the online publication. According to al-Fayed, part of the reason to buy The Game Rag was to stop the racist jokes that the website is known for.

"The amount of racist jokes per article is down 4% from the original amount. The Game Rag now only has 96% of racism per article. That is a good thing."

The deal faced immense hardships during the negoriation process, and at one point appeared would fall through. Jed Davis, spokesman for the right-wing Internet watchdog group, FreedomNet, chastized Smart for his intentions to sell the website.

"This is a threat to our national security and the wellbeing of our children. I mean, what's next - Google or IGN with foreign owners? No way."
