Gaming Blog Apologizes For Link-Heavy Style
01.16.06 – Popular videogame oriented blog Video Game Media Watch, issued today an apology for what they feel is a non-friendly reader format in their content.
"When I started Super Mario HQ back in 1996, I never thought my writing would get so much attention from the public. Thanks to readers like you, my original and subsequent sites prospered," said Kyle Orland, editor of VGMWatch.com. "[B]ut with the advent of the blog, adding links to one's post became the norm, and soon spun out of control. However flattering it might be to have people tell me that they spend hours and hours reading as little as one news post on my site due to the exorbitant amount of links, I feel that it is time to go back to a simpler, more reader-friendly format."
The announcement shocked many people throughout the online community, however, the general consensus was that of praise for the site formerly known as the Video Game Ombudsman.
In other news, it was reported today that IGN would cut back on the number of ads on their website, lowering the amount by a total of 85%. The cutbacks will result in an estimated 12,000 ads total throughout the entire site or 24 ads per single page.
