Nintendo Revolution To Be Released As Capsule Toy

01.02.06 - Nintendo has just announced that it will release the Nintendo Revolution as a capsule toy in Japan.

"We believe the system to be so inexpensive and small that it would suit us to sell it as a capsule toy," said Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. "The Japanese love capsule toys and they will love the Revolution as well."

This is a first in video game history, but according to Iwata, it's the next step in video gaming.

"Not only have games become stale in the past decade, the way they are sold has also become stale. We intend to elevate retailers to the next level with this move."

Nintendo has been saying that they intend to go their own route this time around with the Revolution. and this seems to solidify that move.

"We have been saying that we want to step out of the video game race and do our own thing. Well, we've decided to do that but in a different way. Instead of becoming number one in the video game industry. We will dominate in the capsule toy arena," said Reggie Fils-Aime, chief marketing officer of Nintendo.

The codenamed Nintendo Revolution is Nintendo's next generation video game console set to compete with Gundam toys and DOA 4 figurines.
