FIFA World Cup 2006 To Be Bundled With $20 Bill In US

1.24.06 - In order to increase anticipation for the Soccer World Cup held in Germany later this year, EA Sports announced that they would bundle their upcoming game based on the competition with a twenty dollar bill in the United States.

"We're aware that most people in the United States don't like soccer, despite what those Nike commercials say" explained Brian Matthews, head of EA Sports' North American division. When reporters asked Matthews if the announcement also applied to portable and next-gen consoles as well as current generation machines, he said "It's only ten dollars for the portable versions. Also, I'm pretty sure that Microsoft misinterpreted our statement and is now preparing to charge 20 dollars more for the Xbox 360 version"

Microsoft reps assured that there was no misinterpretation. "We're offering our customers the finest game experience known to man. And for that, we must charge eighty dollars for a game that is essentially a port of a game released three months earlier" said Anna Thompson, head of public relations for Microsoft.

In other news, Nintendo's first party World Cup game has been announced for a January 2007 release, five months after the actual competition is scheduled to end.
