Geometry Wars Makes Hardcore Gamers Take Long, Hard Look At Selves
01.16.06 - Geometry Wars, the downloadable Xbox Live Arcade game has hardcore gamers re-evaluating their hardcore status.
"I've been a hardcore gamer for years now. I only play hardcore games - but this, freakin' Geometry Wars has got me all crazy." said MasterKeith1986, a gamer on Xbox Live. "I can't stop playing it. It's casually addicting!"
Geometry Wars is a Robotron-like shooter where the object of the game is to stay alive as long as possible while shooting down your enemy ships that just don't stop coming. It's one of the games that Microsoft is banking on for their casual gamers market.
It's games like this, though, that make gamers like MasterKeith1986 question their own allegiances. They're torn between First Person Shooters, Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games and $5 flash games.
"I've spent hundreds of hours maxing out my World of Warcraft character and all I keep thinking about is how much time I've wasted. I could've gotten a higher score in Geometry Wars," said Thorincrash the Crash(Thorin)Hammer. "Geometry Wars is ruining my life. My priorities are all screwed up now."
Geometry Wars is available for download now on Xbox Live Arcade. A trial with limited features is available for those not sure of themselves or their habits.

Did you just run an ad for the XBox 360? You bitch. Next time wait until we get paid off before you compliment a game.

Gold! It is indeed a confusing time when one discovers Geometry Wars. I rented a 360 and had it for only 5 days. With it I got PGR3 and Perfect Dark Zero. I spent about 80% of my playing time rocking the GW demo. The entire time, feeling guilty for ignoring the 'next gen' games that were collecting dust.
