BloodRayne Home Release Will Be PSP Exclusive
01.09.06 - After the movie leaves theaters, Brightlight Pictures' BloodRayne film will hit UMD for PSP but not DVD, a surprising press release announced.
After a disappointing opening weekend in which some analysts say the movie "bombed," Brightlight is looking for alternate ways to boost the profitability of its motion picture.
"The movie has a special appeal that only certain people can appreciate," explained Shawn Williamson, one of the film's producers. "We believe those type of people own PSPs. It's a match made in Heaven."
BloodRayne, based on the Majesco video game of the same name, is being heralded as one of the worst movies of this generation. The PSP-exclusivity move is being noted as an attempt to boost distribution sales of the film once it hits the consumer market by targeting a specific audience.
"The BloodRayne video game character was once featured topless in Playboy," noted Higard Blurich market analyst James Thisben. "Anyone that jerked off to that will probably pay $30 to watch the BloodRayne movie on their PSP."
