1UP Writer Accused Of Plagiarizing Video Game Codes

1.24.06 - A strategy guide writer for 1UP.com has been accused of plagiarizing cheat codes from a Dead or Alive 4 fansite.

The DOA4 fansite insists that the codes that were posted in their online strategy guide are the exact same ones posted in the 1UP.com strategy guide. Posters on the message boards meticulously tried each code to see if they were exact replicas and to see if, in fact, they were plagiarized. According to the tests, they did prove to be stolen.

1UP.com has taken the strategy guide down to investigate the problem. According to the editors, the guide writers usually just make up their own cheat codes and in this case, they just got lucky. They are looking into the issue, though, just to make sure that one of their writers didn't get lazy and in fact, just read every site on the internet to find the codes.

The codes in question are "Up, Down, Left, Left, Up" and "A, B, B, X, A." These codes allow your character to have infinite health and infinite cleavage, respectively. In order for these codes to work, you have to input them right after your character gets knocked down but before they touch the ground.
