SpikeTV Awards Xbox 360 With Lifetime Achievement Award

12.12.05 - The Xbox 360 was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2005 SpikeTV Video Game Awards last week.

"It's an honor to win such a prestigious award from such a reputable network," said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of worldwide marketing and publishing for Xbox. "We've done our best to bring change to this industry and SpikeTV has taken notice."

The Xbox 360 was released last month just in time to get the award. Moore said that one of the main reasons to get the new console out was to be able to make an appearance at the illustrious award show.

"We didn't want to have to wait until next year for SpikeTV to mention us," said Moore.

The SpikeTV Video Game Awards show has been going for a couple of years now and it's been getting strong attention from the television community. The video game community, however, hasn't really caught on yet.

If you missed this year's airing, you can catch a one-time repeat viewing next week, when they air it at 7:00 p.m., every night, right after The Funny Foreign Accent Game Show.

Lifetime Achievement? For an unproven system that launched mere weeks ago?

It's a bit like giving Franz Ferdinand a Lifetime Acheivement Award for their second album.

And what's up with Spike TV giving an award to Mark Ecko's graffiti game -- it's not even released yet!
