IGN To Launch Ad-Only Channel

12.07.05 - IGN, known for their cutting edge video game journalism and strong brand loyalty, has just launched a new ad-only channel, ads.ign.com.

It will have all of the great features that IGN is known for except that it will only feature the ads part.

"The ads are what keep me coming back to IGN," says MaRkOn3, a user of IGN's free user message boards. "I love wading through five minutes of ads to find the news that's relevant to my interests. In fact, I would pay for the membership if it didn't get rid of some of the ads."

IGN started as N64.com back when the internet was young and Nintendo still had mainstream fans. Today, it's one of the biggest video game news sites on the web. In fact, most surfers get their news from IGN, but only when it's linked from another Web site's message board.

You know it! I love being able to see an ad before I can even load up the main news page of any given IGN section. And usually I get to click threw the ad to find out that, yet again, they couldn't be bothered to update today. Meanwhile, Joystiq has updated with ten new stories. IGN ROOLZORS!!11!!one!!

What's awesome about ign ads is that every page is chock full of all types of fantastic slow-loading ads. Video ads, flash ads, noisy ads, page raping ads. If you become a super awesome insider, you can get a click through ad before every page!
woo hoo!

You said it sister! I hate wadeing through all that content just to get to those ads. Video Games? What's that? I just want to click on that monkey for great prizes!

Hah, nicely put! I despise IGN and their network of ad ridden sites. Always have.

I've been a GameSpot subscriber for a couple years now and don't regret dropping money on those in the least.

I signed up for an IGN membership to check it out. It states you can turn off the ads... but only some of the ads are in did removed. The most annoying, flickering, slow loading flash video ones remain. Needless to say, I cancelled my subscription almost instantly. No refund, though. Surprised?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE those full page flash adds that fly all ove rhte screen and hide all the boring text!! OMG those are just GENIUS!
