Dan "Shoe" Hsu Paid To Write Editorial

12.27.05 - It was revealed today that Dan "Shoe" Hsu, Editor-in-Chief of Electronic Gaming Monthly was paid an undisclosed amount for the remarks he made in an editorial criticizing the video game journalism industry.

Hsu and his "monthly pay"
"Apparently, Dan wasn't just railing on because he had a problem with his peers taking bribes," said Mark Mil, a source close to Hsu. "Someone was paying him to say those things. I don't know how much, but I know he makes a living off of it."

The editorial in question was published in the most recent issue of EGM. In it, Hsu complains about his journalist peers and how he knows that they take bribes in exchange for better coverage of games.

Hsu isn't taking this accusation lightly though.

"This is my job you know," said Hsu. "It's called a salary. And, yeah, that Mark Mil guy? We're not close. I don't know what kind of source he told you he was."

Hsu wouldn't disclose the amount of money he's gotten for writing such pieces but he did say who pays him.

"I work for Ziff Davis so that's who pays me," he said. "Again, it's not a conspiracy. It's my freakin' job."
