Capcom Develops Blog Game
12.11.05 - Capcom, the maker of the popular Resident Evil series of games, will soon release a game based on blogs.
The as-yet untitled game, due out this summer, will allow users to build a blog, where they can display their poetry, talk about boy problems, or post what music they are currently listening to. Through an online feature, gamers will be able to share their blog with other gamers, manage a blogroll, and allow comments and trackbacks. As the player advances, he will be able to add pictures, share audio files, create an RSS feed, and more.
Capcom Studio 8, the western-based development studio responsible for the Playstation "Maximo" games, will be creating the title.
"Kids love blogs, and we wanted to bring that to the console world," said Tom Sekine, Chief Operating Officer of Capcom Studio 8. "It was only a matter of time before blogs reached video games, and we're proud to be the first to share this phenomenon with the gaming world."
Capcom is not the only company with blogs on the mind. Electronic Arts has been in negotiations to license the Xanga name for a future blog title, and Activision has also been rumored to be investigating making a blog game.

Took 'em long enough.;) The game could be a drag, if it's the kind of thing you update every two weeks (like me)

Of course, the blog game will be easy to complete the first time, unlocking the harder modes which feature the slash/dot effect, serial trolls and cease and desist orders from major media players. Success at this harder difficulty level will mistakenly give players the belief that they could succeed at this game in the real world, much like the same players feel they could infiltrate a Russian army base, shoot a real gun accurately and win the US PGA based on their successes with controller in hand.
Capcom plans a sequel in the new year "Blog vs Diary" in which all the mechanics of the first game will be left unchanged, but players will be pitted against diary, memoire and journal writers in a clever cross promotion with Hallmark stationary.

I'm personally very interested in how Capcom will make use of the Revolution controller for any blogging games
